One story I find funny is in WW2 a couple of southerners took a confederate battle flag to war. The soldiers captured a German camp and hoisted the confederate flag, when German scouts came back and saw the flag they surrendered. The Germans asked what country they were from and the American soldiers said they were rebel fighters from the south. TLDR: Germans in ww2 give up thinking the confederate flag is an another country.
